The experiment should be taken with a high-voltage power supply.
This instrument consists of two horizontal parallel flat conductor plates with a set distance (d) between each and some silver paper rolls as the small jumping balls. The small balls are light and can be electric conductive.
Connect the two plates to the positive and negative electrodes of the high voltage power supply, turn on the power supply, and then an electric field in vertical direction between the two plates appears. At the beginning, the balls are carrying the same (+/-) electric charge as the bottom plate, when f>mg, balls will jump to the upper plate and then the electric charge will be neutralized, at the same time, the small balls will carry the same (+/-) electric charge as the upper plate. In this experiment you will see the balls jumping up and down continuously.
